The Jerez bullring is located in Jerez de la Frontera, in the Andalusian province of Cadiz, where bullfighting is of great importance.
One of the oldest and most important bullrings in Andalusia, the bullring of Jerez de la Frontera hosts every year the Jerez Horse Fair in May, declared of International Tourist Interest, which, along with Easter, is one of the largest and most important fairs in the city.

History of the Jerez de la Frontera Bullring
The bullring of Jerez was built in the early nineteenth century, specifically in 1839, which makes it one of the most historic bullrings in Spain.
The bullring was inaugurated on June 7, 1840 and, 20 years later, in 1860, it suffered a fire that forced its reconstruction by the architect José Estévez y López, being reopened in 1872. But, years later, in 1891, it caught fire again, although in a milder form, being inaugurated again in 1894 by the mayor of the city, Toribio Revilla San Millán, with a poster formed by the right-handed Guerrita and Bonarillo, who fought bulls of the Marqués de Villamarta.
Nowadays, the bullring has a capacity of 9,500 people to see bullfights in Jerez, being a much more consistent bullring, characterized by an eclectic style with regional features.

Some curiosities of the Jerez de la Frontera bullring
Beyond the two fires it suffered in the nineteenth century, one of the main curiosities of the square, is that in Jerez began his career a renowned bullfighter as Joselito el Gallo, with only 13 years old.
It should also be noted that the façade of the bullring is decorated with attached tiles that pay tribute to the bulls pardoned throughout the history of the bullring, as well as that inside the bullring there are three tribute plaques; one to Rafael de Paula, another one remembering the alternative of Luis Parra Jerezano and a third one referring to the history of José Luis Galloso.

When is the Feria Taurina del Caballo de Jerez held?
The Jerez Horse Bullfighting Fair is held every year in the month of May, with a duration of one week, where several bullfights, bullfighting competitions and “corridas de rejones” are held, in addition to a multitude of equestrian shows.
Being one of the most historic bullrings in Spain, the Jerez Fair hosts every year some of the best bullfighters of the moment, which has allowed to live afternoons for history.
